Pop star released her sixth album Timeless on Friday
Meghan Trainor may arguably have the cutest family with Daryl Sabara, but on “Whoops,” she’s singing to an ex that screwed things up. On Monday, the pop star released the video for “Whoops,” the pop-doo-wop standout from her new album, Timeless.
The video sees Trainor dancing and posing in a blank room and later arriving with a baseball bat. As she sings the catchy lyrics about her supposed replacement, the singer smashes all of the furniture in the room.
“And she got ’bout half/Of my looks with no class,” she sings. “Now you say, ‘Come back’/But I think what you really mean is whoops, you messed up.”
“Whoops” is the fourth single off the album Timeless, following songs such as “To the Moon,” “Been Like This” with T-Pain, and “I Wanna Thank Me” with Niecy Nash. She’s been teasing the track’s music video on TikTok and debuted the track live on Today last Friday.
“I want them to listen to the self-love anthems and hopefully that helps them,” Trainor said about the LP on Today. “It’s all the stuff I’m going through as a mom: trying to learn to love myself after two C-sections and being kinder to myself. I hope it makes [people] smile.”
The album features tracks with Trainor’s signature self-empowering lyrics but with a constantly modernizing sound. She’ll follow the LP with her first tour in seven years this summer and fall. She’ll stop at amphitheaters across America, along with the Kia Forum in L.A. and New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Timeless follows the release of Takin’ It Back in 2022, which featured songs such as “Made You Look” and “Bad For Me” with Teddy Swims.
