Meryl Streep will return to Only Murders in the Building for the show’s fourth season, reprising the role of Loretta Durkin.
The news was revealed by 20th Television president, Karey Burke, whose studio produces Only Murders in the Building. Appearing on The Hollywood Reporter’s podcast, TV’s Top 5, he confirmed that that Streep would return “for next season because she had a tremendous time.”
Streep made Selena Gomez’s guest star dreams come true when debuted on the show for its third season, portraying Durkin, a working actor who has a role in the play directed by Oliver Putnam (Martin Short). In one episode, she sang the song “Look for the Light,” penned by Sara Bareilles and the songwriting duo Pasek & Paul.
So far, what we know about Only Murders in the Building Season 4 is that it will begin with the main trio — Short, Gomez, and Steve Martin — going to Los Angeles, before returning to their home base: The Aroncia in New York. Along with Streep, Molly Shannon will have a recurring role as well.
