Metallica are going to play a virtual concert Fortnite for the game Rock Band festival mode, video game developer Epic Games announced Wednesday.
The band's concert — titled “Metallica: Fuel. Fire. Mania.” — will have the band perform six songs in the game, Epic said, with shows scheduled for June 22 and June 23. Fans will have a total of six chances to catch the show, at 2 p.m. m., 5 pm and 11 pm on Saturday, and 10 am, 2 pm on Sunday.

Before of the festival at launch, the game has hosted several virtual concerts for popular recording artists in recent years, starting with Marshmello and Travis Scott in 2019 and 2020. Scott's viral show helped popularize video game concerts in particular and gave way to Fortnite concerts by artists such as Ariana Grande, J Balvin and Kaskade among others.
