Andre 3000 once declared that “the South has something to say”. Nearly three decades later, Atlanta natives Future and Metro Boomin carry the torch.
The twin's We Don't Trust You The joint album certainly made a loud statement with the collab LP debuting at the top of the Billboard 200 and the Kendrick Lamar-assisted “Like That” reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
“HIP HOP IS ALIVE AND WELL #WEDONTTRUSTYOU,” Metro wrote on his social media Monday (April 1) after learning that “Like That” had earned him his first No. 1 hit as an artist. (He peaked as a co-producer and co-writer on Migos' “Bad & Boujee” and The Weeknd's “Heartless.”)
Not only did “Like That” top the Hot 100, but Future and Metro's album filled half of the top 10 and held the No. 2 spot as well with “Type S–t” featuring Travis Scott and Playboi Carti.
Lamar takes aim at fellow “Big Three” Drake and J. Cole with his scathing guest appearance likely played a role in the track earning the most one-week streams of any song in 2024 — “Like That” ended up pulling in 59 .6 million streams and 5.6 million radio audience impressions and sold 9,000 in the week ending March 28, according to Luminate.
The 59.6 million streams are the most for a track in a week since Miley Cyrus' “Flowers” garnered 59.7 million in its second week (February 4, 2023).
“Like That” also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and Streaming Songs charts. It bowed at No. 2 on digital song sales.
We Don't Trust You debuted atop the Billboard 200 with 251,000 total album-equivalent units in the week ending March 28, per Luminate. It's the biggest selling week for any album so far in 2024.
“ALL PURE OUT OF stream NO PHYSICAL NO PACKS JUST GREAT MUSIC AND HUGS FROM YOU ALL!! THANKS!!!! #WETRUSTYOU #WEDONTTRUSTTHEM,” Metro wrote on X after the project reached No. 1.
