In a historic collaboration to commemorate the centenary of Gustave Eiffel's death, French DJ and producer Michael Canitrot will perform at the top of the Eiffel Tower.
The groundbreaking performance will be broadcast live on social media and French television on December 27, when France's most iconic monument will be transformed into an otherworldly rave stage.
Canitrot tells us he's curating a 50-minute melodic techno and progressive house DJ set, particularly showcasing his latest track “CHANGE,” a collaboration with house music icon Roland Clark. This unprecedented performance follows a series of sold-out shows on his “Monumental Tour,” including extraordinary performances in front of thousands of people at venues such as Place Stanislas in Nancy, France and Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, Italy.
Celebrated for its visual extravagance, the “Monumental Tour” has visited notable heritage sites such as the Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel and the Royal Palace, garnering praise from institutions such as the Institute of France and the French National Commission for UNESCO.
The upcoming event will project a stunning lighting display onto the Eiffel Tower and showcase performances by guest artists including the “Spectre” choir, mezzo-soprano singer Yana Mann, contemporary dancer Abblaye Diop and pianist Yann Dulché. Award-winning French actor Philippe Torreton will also provide his voice to guide audiences through an immersive experience in memory of Gustave Eiffel.
The broadcast of “Monumental Tour celebrates Eiffel” is scheduled for December 27, 2023, at 9:00 p.m. CET, premiering on the YouTube and Facebook pages of Canitrot and the Eiffel Tower, followed by its television broadcast on the French television CSTAR at 10:50 p.m. The performance will later be available online for streaming.
