After winning her first career Grammy earlier on Sunday afternoon (February 4), Miley Cyrus picked up her first Big Four trophy just hours later when “Flowers” won record of the year at the 2024 Grammys. The super pop star took to the stage and delivered a short but hard-hitting acceptance speech that ended with Cyrus admitting: “I don't think I forgot anyone – but I might have forgotten the underwear. Goodbye!”
Mark Ronson and Meryl Streep presented Cyrus with the record of the year for “Flowers” after the smash hit became her longest-running Hot 100 No. 1 in early 2023. “This award is amazing,” Cyrus said upon receiving trophy, but added, “My life was beautiful yesterday. Everyone in this world is spectacular, so don't think this is important!”
Cyrus also yelled at her “gentlemen gays, why look how good I look!” as well as collaborators 'Flowers', which featured producers Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson.
Earlier in the evening, Cyrus performed “Flowers” on stage at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and quipped during the performance, “I just won my first Grammy!”
“Flowers” won best pop solo performance before Cyrus took home the record of the year. Cyrus was previously nominated for two Grammys before collecting her first trophies in 2024. “Flowers” beat out Taylor Swift's “Anti-Hero,” SZA's “Kill Bill,” Boygenius' “Not Strong Enough,” “On My Mama” by Victoria Monét, “Vampire” by Olivia Rodrigo, “What Was I Made For” by Billie Eilish. and Jon Batiste's “Worship” for record of the year.
