Conor McGregor, a professional fighter and businessman, has faced many legal issues during his career and the latest matter has a new development. The Irish MMA star has been ordered to pay a woman $250,000 in a civil lawsuit after she accused Conor McGregor of sexual assault.
As reported by The GuardianConor McGregor, 36, was at Ireland's highest court last Friday (November 22nd) to hear the verdict in his civil rape and sexual assault case. Nikita Hand, the woman accusing McGregor, said the former UFC champion raped her in a Dublin hotel in December 2018.
Hunt said she met McGregor and invited him to a Christmas party at her workplace to join her and a friend. Hunt also said James Lawrence was also an attendee at the party and sexually assaulted her as well, although the jury found no evidence to support the claim. Hunt spoke to a crowd of reporters outside court after the verdict was read and thanked her supporters and loved ones.
In a series of now-deleted X-Platform responses, McGregor attacked Hunt, calling her a “vicious liar” and pounced on Lawrence's exoneration as an attempt to exonerate himself.
“Two men falsely accused one acquitted, the other soon,” McGregor wrote last Saturday. “Congratulations James Lawrence on the absolute acquittal! Twice you were leveled with this heinous accusation and twice it was presented as FALSE!”.
Conor McGregor has vowed to appeal and have the case overturned.
