A comment Morgan Wallen made about Taylor Swift drew boos from the crowd at a recent stop of his One Night at a Time tour in Indianapolis.
The country star, who played back-to-back nights April 4-5 at the Indiana city's Lucas Oil Stadium, commented onstage that his show had set a record for the venue.
“I was told right before I went on stage that this is the most attended concert in the history of this building,” Wallen announced to cheers, as seen in a fan-filmed clip from the show below. “And that we're the first people to do it two nights in a row, so thank you for making it possible for me to say that.”
“I'll say 'til Taylor Swift comes to town in the fall,” the singer joked, predicting the possibility of Swift breaking the attendance record when she brings The Eras tour to Lucas Oil Stadium for three straight nights in November.
His comment about a fellow chart-topper with country roots seemed light-hearted enough, but some concertgoers could be heard booing loudly in response.
“We mustn't fool around. We shouldn't be booed,” Wallen was quick to say, but then showed that he was grateful for his fans' support. “I appreciate that. But I know you all got my back.”
While Wallen has been on the road this week for the 2024 leg of his world tour, Swift is taking a short break from hers to focus on the release of her 11th studio album on April 19. Department of Tormented Poets. With less than a fortnight to go—which happens to be the title of the opening track off her new Post Malone-assisted album—Swift is counting down the days until new music is in fans' hands. On Saturday (April 6), Swift took to an Instagram Story to share a snippet of a typewriter that read, “13 days until TORTURED POETS SECTION.”
