Motley Crue's lawyer speaks out for Mick Mars The lawsuit was a top 23 story of April 2023: Motley Crue's lawyer spoke to Variety about the lawsuit filed against the band by founding guitarist Mick Mars and bassist Nikki Sixx hit back also on social media in a news story about the legal action.
As we reported on Thursday (April 6), “Mars, real name Robert Alan Deal, has reportedly filed a lawsuit against the band over his share of the profits after he quit touring.
“Ares announced his retirement from the road last October due to his battle with ankylosing spondylitis, a painful medical condition that has made touring with the reunited band difficult.
“Celebrity news site TMZ shared news that it has obtained the legal documents Mars filed against the band. They report that Mick claims the band “cut his share of the profits from 25 percent to 5 percent… after announcing he was retiring from touring.
The band's lawyer, Sasha Frid, told Variety: “After the last tour, Mick publicly quit Motley Crue. “Despite the fact that the band owed Mick nothing – and with Mick owing the band millions in advance which he did not. payback – the band offered Mick a generous compensation package to honor his career with the band. Manipulated by his manager and lawyer, Mick refused and chose to file this ugly public lawsuit.”
Frid was asked by Mars the initial announcement that he was pulling out of the tour but would remain a member of the band and their current stance that he effectively left the group. The lawyer said, “That's right. Withdrawal from the tour means resignation from the band.
“The main function of the band is to tour and do concerts. And as you saw from the amendment, if a shareholder quits, they can't get any compensation from the tours – which is what Mick is trying to get. Bassist Nikki Sixx reacted to the litigation by sharing a link to Variety's report on Twitter and stating, “Sad day for us and we don't deserve this considering how many years we've supported him. We still wish him the best and I hope he finds the lawyers and his managers for not harming him. We love you Mick.”
