Tetris Kelly:
Taeil will be leaving K-pop group NCT after being accused of an unspecified sexual offense. His label, SM, has confirmed his departure and we bring you the shocking news.
NCT 127:
As you know, for obvious reasons, we are not all together with nine members.
Tetris Kelly:
NCT 127 was in our studio without Taeil, talking about operating with fewer members, and today we learned of a big change in the group’s lineup. SM Entertainment released a statement saying that the NCT member will be leaving the boy band after learning that he has been “charged in a criminal case related to a sexual crime.” Adding, “We recognized the severity of the issue and have decided that Taeil can no longer continue the group’s activities. We have discussed this matter with Tael and it has been decided that he will be leaving the group.” The agency added that it is fully cooperating with the police investigation.
Our interview came almost exactly a year after Taeil, 30, suffered injuries in a motorcycle accident that required him to undergo surgery and take a break. Last October, SM Entertainment posted an update saying that the artist still needed “sufficient treatment and stability” following the procedure. Taeil debuted as a member of NCT, having been active with the group since their pre-debut training team in 2015. We’ll keep you posted on any developments in the story.
