“I felt called back to music by the DJ community,” Furtado said in a statement about “Love Bites”
Go now! Nelly Furtado knew a return to dance music was the way to go, and tapped SG Lewis and Tove Lo to help pen and produce “Love Bites,” her new single, out Wednesday.
“I felt called back to music by the DJ community,” Furtado said in a press release. “DJs remixed my songs at concerts, clubs and on social media and I realized how much people love to dance and escape to my music.”
“It's the healthiest vice you can have, and I love the opportunity to write music that lets people off the hook more than anything else,” he added.
The visual for “Love Bites” captures Furtado and Lo dancing to the song's lyrics like they're in the club. In other scenes, the duo pose on top of a red car driven by Lewis. “You've got the devil in your eyes, so I won't waste all my time on you,” Furtado sings on the track.
The trio of artists have been teasing the release of 'Love Bites' for several weeks now social media, sharing excerpts from the exciting piece. The track appears to be a taste of some of the music the Canadian Grammy winner has been making in recent months.
The track follows her Spanish track with Juanes, “Gala y Dalí” and the Timbaland-Justin Timberlake collaboration, “Keep Going Up.” Her last album arrived in 2017 with The walk.
The song is also the first new release from Lo since releasing the Extended Cut of her album, Dirt Femme, last year. The LP included songs such as “No One Dies From Love”, “Borderline” and “Pineapple Slice” with SG Lewis.
“We just really click. I love writing with him,” Lo said Rolling rock about working with Lewis before Dirt Femmehis release.
