Sunrise at Therismus will serve as a prequel to the original trilogy
His world Panem continues to expand. Hunger Games Author Suzanne Collins has announced a new novel in the series, titled Sunrise at Therismus, which will be released next year. It will mark the fifth book in the series, which follows The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjayand The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Sunrise at Therismus will serve as a prequel to the original trilogy, set 40 years after the events of the most recent novel, according to Associated Press. The new book, released on March 18, 2025, begins with the harvest of the Fifty Hunger Games.
“With 'Sunrise on the Reaping,' I was inspired by David Hume's idea of tacit subjection and, in his words, 'the ease with which the many are ruled by the few,'” Collins told the AP. “The story also offered a deeper dive into the use of propaganda and the power of those who control the narrative. The question “Real or not real?” It seems more pressing every day.”
While the film rights for Sunrise at Therismus have yet to be announced, it's a safe bet that it will make it to the big screen like the novels before it. The original trilogy was adapted into four blockbusters starring Jennifer Lawrence as heroine Katniss Everdeen, which catapulted the actress to worldwide fame. The movie version of it Songbirds and Snakesstarring Rachel Zegler, came out last year.
