There's a disturbing trend growing at music concerts: Fans are getting bold enough to throw objects on stage while artists are performing. Nicki Minaj was one of the latest victims while on stage during her Pink Friday 2 World tour stop in Detroit on Saturday (April 20).
In the middle of performing her anthem “Starships,” Minaj watched as a bracelet was thrown in her direction from the audience. She showed off some athletic ability like an NFL cornerback, and used her hand-eye coordination to push the accessory aside.
The object thrown at the Queens icon clearly upset her. He picked it up and rolled it up like a baseball pitcher before wildly tossing it back from where it came into the audience.
However, she didn't let the incident dampen her spirits throughout the concert. “#GagCityDetroit what was your favorite part of the show last night? Your energy was so beautiful” wrote to X following the show. “Strong, happy, fly, beautiful, sexy, etc. Just AWESOME energy that I will never forget.”
Drake is one of them many rappers who had to deal with fans throwing things on stage. Last year, during a show in Detroit while on the It's All A Blur tour, women tour-concert-detroit/70395597007/” target=”_blank”>they were throwing bras among other elements in the scene.
“That's not what we want to see, a big shoe to fill. This is what I need you to do, Detroit, this is what I need you to do, please, for me. I'm so grateful to be back in this building with you after so long that we had to sit on the swing, right,” he said. “Please stop throwing bras here, I can't — I feel like I'm on cleaning duty tonight… Cleaning. This is crazy.”
Minaj continues her Pink Friday 2 World tour this week with a pair of shows in Chicago and a date in Minneapolis. On the music side, he delivered the star-studded “FTCU (Sleeze Mix)” featuring Travis Scott, Chris Brown and Sexyy Red on Friday (April 19).
