The Trinidadian-born, Queens-raised artist got her big break in 2009 when Lil Wayne tapped her to be the first female on his Young Money Entertainment imprint — after which she soon cemented herself as an icon with her chart-changing debut album game. Pink Friday in 2010. Since then, it has topped the Hot Rap Songs chart 10 times. But it wasn't until 15 years into her career that she scored her first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, with a 2020 feature on Doja Cat's viral TikTok “Say So.” (Her first unaccompanied hit to dominate the chart came two years later, with Rick James' “Super Freaky Girl,” a tribute to Hammer, climbing to the top in August 2022.)
That's not to say Minaj wasn't an absolute force on the Hot 100 in the decade-plus before “Say So,” though. In fact, she'll forever hold the title of first woman to score 100 chart entries—a number she's since surpassed dozens of times—thanks to her impeccable catalog of colorful boss b–ch anthems, slick diss tracks, and ground-breaking assertions of female power and sexuality.
