Wake up baby, new clips from one of the Gallagher brothers just came out! Recent interview with SunNoel Gallagher has expressed his frustration that Glastonbury has become “woke” with “little idiots waving flags and making political statements”. Politics in art, imagine!
“Don't get me wrong, I love Glastonbury,” said the Oasis star.[But] Now that place is getting a little more progressive and a little preachy and a little pretentious. I don’t like that in music… bands that get on stage and say, “Hey, isn’t war terrible, huh? We’re going to boo the war. Fuck the conservatives, man,” and all that… It’s like, look, play your fucking songs and get out.”

Gallagher did not perform at this year's edition of the legendary British music festival, but reportedly spent the weekend watching several acts, including Jungle and Kneecap.
“It’s too much. Donate all your money to the cause, that’s all, stop talking about it,” he continued. “Let’s say, for example, the world is in a bit of a mess and you’re all in a field at Glastonbury. What’s the problem with that? I don’t have a problem with that… I suppose if you’re 18 and middle class you might have a problem with that… but what are all the kids in a field at Glastonbury going to do about it?”
Unfortunately for Gallagher, Glastonbury has a long history of political activism, and this year’s edition was no different. IDLES collaborated with Banksy to launch inflatable rafts for migrants, and PJ Harvey brought in performance artist Marina Abramović, who got the boisterous crowd to observe seven minutes of collective silence. Elsewhere, Gallagher’s old rival Damon Albarn joined the Bombay Bicycle Club in voicing support for Palestine.
Despite the numerous instances of so-called “flag waving,” Gallagher maintains his love for the annual event. “I think it’s one of the most important things,” he said. “In fact, it’s probably the best thing about Britain, apart from the Premier League.”
Last year, Gallagher released the most recent album under his Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds project, Council SkiesHe also has a handful of European festival dates on the horizon. Get tickets here.
