Nora Fatehi, a multicultural artist who is fluent in English, Hindi, French and Moroccan Arabic, talks about her unique combination of musical and dance styles. She shares her journey from Toronto to Bollywood, her collaboration with Jason Derulo and CK, her plans for a tour in 2025, and more.
Nora Fatehi:
Hi, I'm Nora Fatehi and you're watching Billboard News. So I think what makes me different as an artist is that not only do I come from India, I'm not Indian, I'm not Moroccan, but I'm Canadian. I have these three identities that make up my brand Nora Fatehi, and that makes me a unique artist. And many people from different parts of the world can relate to me and see a little bit of themselves within me. And I think growing up in Toronto, being so cosmopolitan, I've been exposed to different styles of music, from Dance Hall, Afro, Bollywood, Arabic and Hip-Hop. I took all of that and injected it into my art. I also make sure that the dance styles are very diverse. So in some videos, you might see us doing afros. In some other videos, you may see us belly dancing. You might see us doing strictly Bollywood dance styles. But I make sure that within the music I put out, I also make sure that visually the dance styles are very diverse. And while I was doing that, I gained a huge, diverse following that fell in love with the kind of steps that I do, the hook steps, the choreography. And I realized on social media that people were dancing to the music I posted and copying the steps of the hook. And I was like, “Oh my God, let me create a platform for them on social media.”
