Jennifer Hudson, Jeremy Irons, Billy Eichner and Nathan Lane also among artists celebrating Disney classic in all its forms
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s daughter, North West, is among the cast additions for a special concert celebrating The Lion King this May at the Hollywood Bowl.
Disney’s The Lion King 30th Anniversary – A Live-to-Film Concert Event will feature singers and actors from all three iterations of the beloved Disney franchise — the 1994 animated film, the 1998 Broadway musical, and the 2019 live-action remake — including original Scar actor Jeremy Irons, a pair of Timon actors (Billy Eichner and Nathan Lane), members of the Broadway cast, plus Jennifer Hudson and more.
It’s unclear what role West will play, but the May 24 and 25 concerts will mark her Hollywood Bowl debut. West’s previous performing experience includes singing along with a Kanye song on Instagram.
Disney’s The Lion King 30th Anniversary – A Live-to-Film Concert Event, which will feature the classic songs by Elton John and lyricist Tim Rice along with originals penned for the Broadway musical and Hans Zimmer’s score from both the 1994 and 2019 films, will be streamed on Disney+ later in the year as The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl.
The concerts will also include original Pumbaa actor Ernie Sabella, Bradley Gibson, and Heather Headley (Simba and Nala from the Broadway stage production, and actor Jason Weaver, who voiced young Simba in the 1994 animated film).
