Brooklyn emcee Nvy Jonez LKR teams up with Man of Many Hats for his 4th EP. Rising in the summer of 2019 from a self-titled debut EP, he would continue to expand his underground profile in recent years by following it up in the form of Black Popeye as well as a tetralogy of collaborative EPs with D-Rell called the Chicken Spot series. The last time I covered NVY was his previous EP ALTD (Angels Loyal to Demons) Produced by Accosta the Man & the Undertaker vs. Kane collaborative EP with Chop the Father, but begins a new EP saga with 583.
After the introduction of “All Hands”, the first song “Gator” is this boom bap opener that shows that they are all over the border with different lawyers, while “Québec” keeps a darker tone by organically welcoming everyone to the danger zone. “RAS” featuring Cruu Lee brings an unsettling vibe to the table hoping all vultures die a slow death, while “AEL” featuring Sham Blak stripping drums calls these fools crazier than Gnarls Barkley. Closer “Up 2” ends the EP without drums promising to be forever and keep telling truths.
583 tells an up and down story of how Nvy Jonez LKR and the Man of Many Hats veered their lives from the streets to the military and back, considering the fact that both first met in San Diego while serving in the Navy of the USA. The production is a mix of boom bap and drumless, and the two headliners are also fellow veteran artists who happen to be making waves in the hip-hop scene in their own right, and the New York lyricist remembers gearing up for future installments of this. new series that reflects his upbringing and his time serving our country.
