October London scores his second consecutive No. 1 single Advertising signAdult R&B Airplay chart as “Mulholland Drive,” featuring Snoop Dogg and Latoiya Williams, slips 3-1 to dominate the chart dated Aug. 3. The singer's previous release, “Back to Your Place,” reigned for 10 consecutive weeks between August and December 2023.
“Mulholland Drive” is parked atop Adult R&B Airplay after an 11% jump in plays that made it the most-played song at US adult R&B radio during the July 19-25 tracking week, according to Luminate. The new champion takes down J. Brown's “If You Could See You” after the one week rule.
As both of London's first two Adult R&B Airplay appearances in October yielded No. 1 hits, it's the first to achieve the feat since Tems last year. The Afrobeats and R&B singer's first chart-topper came via a feature on Wizkid's 'Essence', which dominated for 14 weeks in 2021. The second, her own 'Free Mind', posted a nine-week lead from February 2023 (An additional dimension to Tems' achievement – ”Essenca” was the year-end No. 1 on the 2022 Adult R&B Airplay chart, and “Free Mind” took the honor the following year.)
For Snoop Dogg, his guest credit on “Mulholland Drive” gives the veteran rapper his first Adult R&B Airplay No. Life)', which stopped at No. 2. Snoop Dogg has amassed 12 Adult R&B Airplays in his career. As a lead, his top performance was No. 20 for “California Roll” with Stevie Wonder in 2015.
Singer Latoiya Williams, meanwhile, earns her first Adult R&B Airplay Champion in her first time on the list.
Elsewhere, “Mulholland Drive” paces 20-12 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, which ranks songs based on total audience from adult R&B and mainstream R&B/hip-hop radio stations. There, the track swells to 6.2 million viewers, a 16% improvement over last week.
