Olivia Rodrigo welcomed a special guest to the Guts World tour in Nashville on Saturday (March 9). Sheryl Crow joined her for a duet of her mid-90s hit “If It Makes You Happy.”
“I think he's one of the most talented, most wonderful, kindest human beings I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I was lucky enough to sing with her a few times and even lucky enough to call her a friend”, Rodrigo he told the crowd before bringing Crow to the Bridgestone Arena stage on Saturday night.
The pair previously performed “If It Makes You Happy” together at Nashville's Bluebird Cafe in September and again at the 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in November. Crowe presented Rodrigo with the Woman of the Year honor Advertising sign2022 Women in Music event.
Crowe, 62, said she gave Rodrigo, 21, some advice. “I said, you know, 'If you can, just write a sentence every day, about what happened that day, because someday you'll look back [at] that and try to remember all the things,” she said in an interview ET last November. He continued: “The other [I told her] it's just to stay on task and stay away from the chatter. This is an important thing.”
“If It Makes You Happy” was originally released in 1996 and reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1997. The single was included on her second self-titled album, also released in 1996.
Rodrigo's tour heads to St. Louis next, where the Offal The singer-songwriter will play the Enterprise Center on March 12.
