Olivia Rodrigo closed out her epic four-night stand at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night (April 10) by bringing another surprise guest. The final show of Rodrigo's GUTS debut North American tour found the singer sharing the stage with Jewel, who joined her for a run through the latter's 1995 hit “You Were Meant For Me.”
Always happy to share how her fellow artist's work has inspired her, Rodrigo told the crowd: “She's an incredible songwriter. When I first started writing my songs, I was listening to her album Pieces of you before I go to sleep. She's incredible and it's a great honor to have her here with me tonight.”
Jewel, 49, then joined Rodrigo, 21, on stage and both strummed acoustic guitars as the pair took turns singing verses from the gentle ballad that featured on Jewel's 1995 breakthrough Pieces of you album, with the women joining forces on the choruses of the track that reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Rodrigo shared the stage with several special guests during the run in New York, including Noah Kahan for his “Stick Season” at MSG's opening concert on Friday night, before Sheryl Crow at her March 9 show in Nashville for a set of Crow's “If” Makes You Happy.”
Tuesday night's show was the final stop on the first North American leg of Rodrigo's GUTS tour before the singer heads to Europe for a run that begins April 30 in Dublin and includes a June 22 stop in Lisbon, Portugal. He will return to US shores on July 19 for a show at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
