The song will appear on Guts (spilled), the deluxe edition of her upcoming album out Friday
“Miss Right Now” reads the sash across Olivia Rodrigo‘s chest in the official teaser trailer for “Obsessed,” the forthcoming song set to appear on the deluxe edition of Guts, out Friday. The music video won’t premiere until midnight on Thursday, but the singer is holding court now.
In the clip, Rodrigo gathers in a room full of her ex’s other scorned and misled exes. “Miss Thought She Was the One” and “Miss Also Thought She Was the One” blow smoke in her direction as she enters a crowded banquet hall in a black dress while everyone else dons sleek white gowns. Sitting around the tables are nearly two dozen women, all with their own superlatives: “Miss Still His ‘Closest Friend,’” “Miss 2 Summers Ago,” “Miss Mom’s Favorite.”
The energy in the room seems to shift between cheerful and hostile, but the shots of Rodrigo shredding on guitar and confetti poppers blasting silver strips of tinsel into the air suggest incoming chaos all around.
Rodrigo has been performing “Obsessed” during her Guts world tour and will finally be handing the official recording over to her fans alongside four other new songs, including “Girl I’ve Always Been,” “Scared of My Guitar,” “Stranger,” and “So American” on her deluxe set, Guts (spilled).
Rodrigo originally released Guts last September as the follow-up to her acclaimed 2021 debut, Sour. “This album encapsulates growing up and figuring yourself out in the world, and the awkwardness of that,” she told Rolling Stone in her October 2023 cover story. “I feel myself growing leaps and bounds.”
