In the final night of her takeover at Madison Square Garden for the Offal world tour, Olivia Rodrigo welcomed Jewel to the stage for a dazzling duet of the singer-songwriter's 1995 hit “You Were Meant for Me.”
“She's an incredible songwriter. When I first started writing my songs, I was listening to her album Pieces of you before I go to bed,” Rodrigo said, before welcoming Jewel to the stage. “She's incredible and it's such an honor to have her here with me tonight.”
Jewel took the stage dressed in a black top, white pants and a matching hat. The two women strummed their guitars and took turns singing the lines before singing the chorus in harmony. “Dreams last so long/Even after you're gone/I know you love me,” the pair sang. “And soon you'll see/You were meant for me.”
“You Were Meant for Me” was included on Jewel's first album Pieces of you in 1995 and reached Number Two on Billboard Hot 100.
Rodrigo has featured several guests at many of her concerts on her recent tour. During her first performance in New York on Friday, April 5, she welcomed Noah Kahan to the stage to perform a duet of “Stick Season.” Rodrigo, a long-time Kahan fan, previously covered the track for BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge.
Rodrigo also brought Sheryl Crow on stage during her concert in Nashville to perform “If It Makes You Happy”. Tuesday's show is her final set for the US leg of her tour. It's booked for release in Europe at the end of this month. (Remi Wolf will open for her there.)
Rodrigo kicked off her shows in Palm Springs in February with Chappell Roan opening for her on the road. She has made her way across the country with stops in Chicago, Nashville, St. Louis and Miami.
