Throughout May, SEVENTEEN released three new music videos: “Greetings to the youth” “Spell” and “LALALI” – highlighting each of the different units of the K-pop boy band.
If you're new here: SEVENTEEN's three subsects are the Vocal Unit, the Performance Unit, and the Hip-Hop Unit. The first is made up of bandmates WOOZI, JOSHUA, DK, JEONGHAN and SEUNGKWAN, who teamed up for “Cheers to Youth,” an upbeat Japanese rock-inspired track that taps into the essence of youth. The video for the song finds the five boys playing a group of young people facing personal struggles and coming together in the “Tiny ISSUE CLUB,” where they find solace in their shared connection.
HOSHI, JUN, THE8 and DINO form the Performance Unit, whose dreamy amapiano song “Spell” is about the power of love. In the video, the artists transform into the human incarnations of the Sun, Wings, Heart and Arrow tarot cards.
Finally, the Hip-Hop Unit performed “LALALI,” a swaggering, EDM-infused hit. Members S.COUPS, WONWOO, MINGYU, and VERNON strut through colorful cityscapes and ride in fast luxury cars in the track image, showing off their unwavering confidence.
All three tracks appear on the boy band's April 2024 compilation. 17 is herewhich debuted at number 5 on the billboard 200 earlier this month. Featuring songs new and old, the project is a “reminder of SEVENTEEN’s self-progression and their relentless evolution as artists that also points to “a promising path forward with much more to reveal,” according to a recent release from HYBE.
