Ozzy Osbourne and Billy Morrison hit #1 on rock radio with their collaborative track “Crack Cocaine.”
The song comes from Morrison's new solo album, The Morrison Projectwhich features the veteran Billy Idol guitarist collaborating with several singers. The song also features a guest appearance by fellow Idol guitarist Steve Stevens.
The collaboration with Ozzy has proven to be a huge success and has reached number one on Media databaseon the US Active Rock Songs chart, surpassing Pearl Jam's “Wreckage” and the previous number one song “If It Doesn't Hurt” by Nothing More.
“I am extremely grateful to every person in The Morrison Project “Thank you to the team for getting this song to the number one spot on Active Rock,” Morrison enthused in a press release. “Both the song and the album have been so well received, I couldn’t have asked for more. It’s a testament to the passion and honest love for making music, as well as having a strong independent team.”
While the song title “Crack Cocaine” certainly has some shock value considering Ozzy’s past, the title is actually a reference to “being in love with a girl,” in the singer’s own words. The soaring hard rocker is one of the strongest tracks Ozzy has sung in years, and is reminiscent of the sound of his old solo albums with Zakk Wylde.
“I’m so happy that ‘Crack Cocaine’ is number one at rock radio,” Osbourne said in the press release. “And of course, I’m even happier for my friend Billy Morrison.”
Ozzy and Morrison's long-standing friendship also culminated in the pair launching a new internet show titled The Chronicles of the AsylumIn the show, the two musicians discuss various topics such as “aliens, drugs, conspiracies and rock and roll.”
