Ozzy Osbourne would like to win an Oscar: 'Elton John got one'

There aren't many things Ozzy Osbourne hasn't done, but for him, one thing stands out: win an Oscar.

On the latest episode of SiriusXM's Ozzy is talkingthe 75-year-old musician revealed that he is holding out hope for an Oscar at some point, because after all, he wouldn't be the first rock star to receive one.

The topic first came up when Osbourne's co-host Billy Morrison asked him if there was one accolade he hasn't achieved yet but wants to in the future. “Oscar,” the former Black Sabbath frontman immediately replied.

“You asked me what award I haven't won,” he continued, clarifying that he won't necessarily pursue the award through acting. “No, Elton John got one for singing.”

Indeed, Sir Elton has not just one Oscar, but two, both for Best Original Song. In 1994, he won the award for “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” in competition with two others of his own king of lions songs, “Circle of Life” and “Hakuna Matata”. More than two decades later, he won for “(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again” from his 2019 biopic directed by Dexter Fletcher Rocket man.

Meanwhile, the “Crazy Train” singer is still recovering from spinal injuries sustained in a fall in 2019. In September, he revealed that the accident hasn't deterred him from wanting to make more music, confirming Metal Hammer that he hopes to “do one more album and then get back on the road.”

“I'd like to do a concert without falling now,” he lamented to Morrison in the new episode.

In April, Osbourne was announced as one of several Class of 2024 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, this time as a solo artist as opposed to his 2006 induction as part of Black Sabbath. The honor comes after his wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, called out the 2023 Rock Hall for not considering the heavy metal pioneer, despite being eligible as a solo artist since 2006.

“I'm more than honored,” he said recently Advertising sign of recognition. “My solo career has been a much bigger part of my overall music career as a whole.”
