Papa Roach have recorded a new version of their song “Leave a Light On (Talk Away the Dark)” with Carrie Underwood. The collaboration finds the rock band and country-pop superstar seeking to put the spotlight on suicide prevention and mental health awareness.
“We were humbled that Carrie was open to our mission, and hearing the power of Carrie’s voice in that recording session we were blown away,” said Papa Roach singer Jacoby Shaddix. “Not only is her vocal ability unequaled, but the impact of her voice brings a new meaning to our cause and will help people all over the globe. It’s an honor to have a “’Rock Star’ bring life to this track with us.”

Underwood added, “I’m such a huge fan of Jacoby and Papa Roach and was honored to be invited to record ‘Leave a Light On’ with them. It’s a beautiful song and the message behind it and the band’s mission to shine a light on suicide prevention and mental health awareness has never been more important.”
The original version of “Leave a Light On (Talk Away the Dark)” appeared on Papa Roach’s 2022 album Ego Trip. During the band’s live performances on tour with Shinedown and Spiritbox last year, the song was preceded by a video PSA delivered by frontman Jacoby Shaddix. Underwood was in attendance during one of the band’s shows in Nashville.
Papa Roach will launch a UK/European tour in January (pick up tickets here). Meanwhile, Carrie Underwood will play residency dates at Resorts World in Las Vegas in August and October. Tickets to her shows are available here.
All royalties from the song will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Watch the music video below.
