Paul Rudd has spoken proudly of being a good dad and taking his teenage daughter Darby to see Taylor Swift's Eras tour last summer. During an interview with MTV this week to promote his starring role Ghostbusters: Frozen EmpireRudd was asked if he was a real Swiftie, or just a Swiftie “by proxy” because of his undying love for Taylor's favorite NFL team – as well as his own – the Kansas City Chiefs.
“No, I think she's very good. I think she's great,'' said Rudd, one of several celebrities who have been to the stadiums to witness the Eras spectacle. When asked if Rudd participates in the massive singalongs that are a staple of any Swift show, he said, yes, of course. “Yes I am [singing along] in many of them,” he said. What songs does he like to sing the most? “Mastermind” by Midnightas well as “Cruel Summer,” he added, “like everyone else.”
The list went on, with Rudd calling out 2019 Lover track “The Archer”, as well as “August” from Pandemic Folklore album. “I'm just passing A now,” Rudd joked.
While Rudd is happy on Taylor's train, during a visit to The Late Show last week, host Stephen Colbert informed him of his Swiftian subjugation. Recalling the time he took his daughter Madeline – then 14 – to the Grammys in 2008, Colbert said: “Taylor was so good to her that to this day I would kill for her if she wanted me too… 'Me' Like, “Whatever you want, my queen. I will kill for you.”
While Rudd wouldn't say he was murderously loyal, he did tell Colbert that the fact that Swift is dating KC's Travis Kelce and bringing people's attention to his lifelong favorite NFL team is definitely a bonus. “This whole thing is very exciting,” Rudd said. “I see these stories about fathers and their daughters and their interests in watching the games together. I choke when I see it.”
