Peppa Pig may be a little barn pink, but she's still the queen of the jungle.
Marking the cartoon star's first cover song, Peppa will release an adorable rendition of Katy Perry's “Roar” on Thursday night (April 11) — because, as she puts it at the start of the song's new lyric video she shared exclusively with Advertising sign“Even the smallest pig can have the loudest roar.”
The little British piglet lets her small but powerful voice shine on her cover of “Roar,” which features brief cameos from other Peppa Pig characters like Zoë Zebra and Pedro Pony. In the lyric video, Peppa and her friends dress up as superheroes, face a fire-breathing dragon and swing from vine to vine in a rainforest inhabited by friendly monkeys.
“I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire/ 'Cause I'm a champion, and you'll hear me roar,” he sings, adding at the end, “A little confidence goes a long way.”
Released in 2013 as a single by Prism, “Roar” spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — a feat Perry has accomplished nine times in her career. Prior to her Peppa cover, Perry and her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, lent their voices to the characters Ms. Leopard and Mr. Raccoon in triptych. Peppa Pig Wedding Special. Off screen, Perry and the Pirates of the Caribbean star are parents to 3-year-old daughter Daisy.
Although “Roar” marks the first cover song Peppa has released, the cartoon star has previously shared her own music. She has released several albums, including her aptly titled debut in 2019 My first album and is known for singles such as “Peppa's Lullaby” and “Bing Bong Zoo”.
