Peso Pluma got a bunch of his musician friends to hop on his new album, Éxodo, out June 20. On Friday, the música mexicana star revealed the cover artwork and track list for the LP, which features songs alongside Cardi B, Quavo, Natanael Cano, Iván Cornejo, among others.
The album cover sees a distorted inverted-color image of Peso holding up a peace sign. Éxodo will be divided into two discs — the first one comprises of 16 música mexicana songs, and the second includes eight urban tracks.
Disc one features songs such as “Reloj” with Cornejo, “Mami” with Chino Pacas, “Santal 33” featuring Oscar Maydon, referencing the Le Labo cologne, and “Belanova” with Tito Double P, a seeming follow-up to Génesis‘ “Rosa Pastel,” named after the Mexican pop group‘s biggest hit.
The album’s second disc features Éxodo‘s more out-of-the-box collaborations, including “Put Em in the Fridge” with Rolling Stone cover star Cardi B, “Pa No Pensar” with Quavo,” and “Tommy & Pamela,” named after the Mötley Crüe drummer and Pamela Anderson, alongside Mexican pop star Kenia Os.
Also included on the album are some previously-released singles, some of which he performed at Coachella, including “La People II,” “Bellakeo” featuring Anitta, “Teka” with DJ Snake, and “La Durango” with Eslabón Aramdo and Junior H.
Peso graced the cover of Rolling Stone‘s Future of Music issue in March, where he announced Éxodo, and described it as a “more of a direct response to the negative press that seems to surround him.”
“[On Génesis] people already saw the good side, the superhero side. But I think this year, they’re going to know a darker side,” he said. “There’s going to be a lot of things about why we do what we do, and why we sing what we do, why people pit us against each other, why media always look for bad things, why people focus more on the negatives than the positives.”
“There’s going to be a lot of flavors, not only of regional Mexican music,” he added. “From the beginning, I’ve liked doing things to get out of my comfort zone. I know everything goes great with corridos, but I also don’t pass up opportunities to do other stuff I like.”
Peso is scheduled to hit the road later this year with his massive “Exodo” tour, stopping at arenas across the United States, and at Governors Ball.
