While The Who hasn't been active as a group for the past year, the band's co-founder Pete Townshend says there's good news on the horizon for fans.
in a interview with UK publication The London StandardTownshend teased the potential of the band's activities in 2025. “I met Roger for lunch a couple of weeks ago,” he revealed. “We are in good shape. We love each other. “We’re both a little nervous, but we’ll definitely do something next year.”
While such plans might sound like new music or a series of live shows, Townshend explained that they are currently leaning toward the latter, unlike an earlier comment by Roger Daltrey about the financial stress of live performances.
“The album part… Roger's not interested,” Townshend shared. “But I would love to make another album and I might try to intimidate him with that. The last big tours we've done have been with a full orchestra, which was glorious, but now we're looking forward to making noise, making a mess and making mistakes.” Earlier this year, Daltrey successfully executed a solo “semi-acoustic” tour that visited 11 cities over the course of a month, perhaps inspiring more shows as a team.
Elsewhere in the interview, the guitarist shared his perspective on another high-profile reunion, saying he's “disappointed” to hear that Oasis will be getting back together for upcoming live shows. “I really like his solo albums,” he explained.
