In an absurd twist that briefly caught the attention of Ibiza-bound revelers, the pilots of a recent Vueling flight jokingly declared that they were still leafing through the plane's flight manual immediately before takeoff.
The flight crew's hilarious prank aptly captures the playful spirit of one of the world's most famous party destinations. Reflecting its festive atmosphere, pilots flying to Ibiza often take a more light-hearted approach to their communication with passengers.
According to reports from single flight, one such example of this phenomenon recently developed on a Vueling Airbus A320-200 and left passengers perplexed. Travelers on the flight, which was heading to Ibiza from Barcelona, were momentarily taken aback when the pilots announced a delay and attributed it to their need to learn how to fly the plane.
“I regret to inform you that we will be leaving a little later than expected,” declared one of the plane's pilots. “We're going to leave later than planned because my co-pilot and I are reading the plane's instruction manual to know how to take off. But don't worry, I think we'll make it in the end.”
It turns out that the prank was part of a Spanish holiday celebrated in late December known as All Saints' Innocents' Day, which is similar to April Fool's Day in the United States. The tradition was also recently celebrated with a particularly visible prank invented by electronic music event giant elrow.
In the end, the passengers arrived in Ibiza shortly after without incident.
