Pittsburgh's long-running indie punk, emo and hardcore Four String Music festival is celebrating its 10th birthday in a new venue this year, Pittsburgh's 140-year-old Carrie Furnace landmark on the banks of the Monongahela River in the Pittsburgh-area industrial city. of Swissvale.
“We've been trying to get in there for a while,” festival founder Rishi Bahl says Advertising sign. “Carrie Furnace is one of the oldest blast furnaces in Pittsburgh, which is obviously known for steel,” adding, “It just felt right for the 10th anniversary to bring the festival back to Pittsburgh, which aligns with the ethos of the festival and the blue collar, his independent, DIY and anti-Live Nation effort”
The historic festival venue will be running as part of Four Chord's 10th anniversary, June 22 and 23, with A Day To Remember, All-American Rejects, The Story So Far, Something Corporate, State Champs, Motion City Soundtrack, Four Year Strong , The Get Up Kids, Microwave, Militarie Gun, Relient K and more.
Located in the remains of the iconic US Steel Homestead Steel Works, the Carrie Blast Furnaces are a testament to Pittsburgh's industrial prowess in the 20th century.
“We'll outfit the ovens with lights and branding to match the festival,” says Bahl, who also fronts the band Eternal Boy and is an adjunct professor at La Roche University in Pittsburgh.
Four Chords started in 2014 as a local punk rock festival in a 1500 capacity club and has grown into a huge two day stadium sized destination featuring the biggest and brightest in the punk scene whilst keeping its indie DIY roots intact.
Bahl says, “10 years is a long time. Most of the stuff you were into 10 years ago hasn't survived, so getting to the 10th anniversary of Four Chord Music Fest is something we're very proud of. We've really tried to make this the biggest and best yet, and we're ready to spend the weekend with you at our brand new, historic landmark of a location, The Carrie Furnace. Break out the sunscreen and bring the Advil, it's going to be a party.”
This year, Four Chord Fest is partnering with the non-profit Biggies Bullies, which is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming pitbull-type dogs in both Pittsburgh and its surrounding areas.
Attendees can choose between general admission and VIP tickets, with a new luxury VIP level now available. This option provides access to a spacious elevated viewing lounge, private bathrooms, a partially open bar and more, enhancing the overall festival experience. Early bird GA and VIP tickets are on sale now, with the public on sale opening on Friday (February 23) at 11am. east.
