Renowned German bass-house virtuoso Tom Apex has led an impressive career since he was 13 years old. Since then, he has garnered millions of streams, captivating a global audience with his innovative approach to this growing genre of dance music.
We are thrilled to premiere his captivating rendition of the timeless classic “Pure Imagination” from the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Delving into the realms of nostalgia, Tom Apex's eponymous rendition artfully reinvents the original tune, creating a spellbinding intro that seamlessly transforms into a dynamic bass-house masterpiece. With its rich layers, pulsating beats and evocative synth elements, the song is set to keep audiences entertained well into the summer months.
“I stumbled upon the original version from pure imagination one day while browsing TikTok and knew right then and there that I had to cover this. I immediately dropped everything I was doing and started working on the project. After sending the first version to a group chat, Miles from Asunder sent me an mp3 file called “Tom” with no context. It turns out that he developed some ideas around my initial idea and I thought “yes, that's exactly what I had envisioned for this project” and we got to work. Almost a year after countless sessions with Miles and Habib, my girlfriend Aylin recorded the vocals for this project and thus “pure imagination” came about. My initial idea was inspired by those nostalgic images of liminal space with the intention of making a song that makes you feel nostalgic for a time you never had.” – Tom Apex
Featuring the exceptional talents of Asunder, Aylin Kayvan and Lucas Taucoory, “Pure Imagination” emerges as a fusion of musical brilliance, each artist infusing the track with their distinctive style, ensuring this performance remains as captivating as its predecessor.
