While Boys will end with Its upcoming fifth seasonIt's clear that there's a lot more story to tell in this universe. That's why the announcement of Vought on the risea prequel series starring Aya Cash and Jensen Ackles, set in the early days of superheroes in this twisted universe.
In a statement, executive producer Eric Kripke and series showrunner and executive producer Paul Grellong said, “We’re excited to bring you the next disturbing series from the world of The Boys. It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, then going by the name Clara Vought. We can’t wait to blow your minds and disturb your souls with this salacious, gruesome saga soaked in blood and Compound V.”
Vought on the rise It is the third spin-off to emerge from Boys universe, following the animated anthology series The boys present: Diabolical and Generation Vthe college-set series that runs concurrently with the flagship series. (Generation V Even characters appeared in he Children Season 4 finale.) While it is a prequel series, the events of the show will likely have additional repercussions in the new series.
Ackles was introduced as Solider Boy, one of the first superheroes, during season 3 of BoysHis legacy is complicated, and the revelation that he's Homelander's (Antony Starr) father is just the beginning. Cash, meanwhile, was first introduced as Stormfront in Season 2, a superhero whose superpowers and dark fascist beliefs made her a terrifying antagonist and a powerful ally to Homelander.
No release date has yet been announced for Vought on the rise; Boys The series recently wrapped up its fourth season on Prime Video.
