Puddle of Mudd singer Wes Scantlin was arrested after allegedly resisting arrest during a traffic stop.
On Wednesday (July 31), the 52-year-old rocker was arrested for a traffic violation by police in Burbank, California. airport, according to TMZ.
The “Blurry” singer reportedly refused to get out of his Hummer H2 after several requests from law enforcement, prompting them to call in a “crisis negotiator.” After Scantlin continued to resist, he was allegedly pepper-sprayed by officers.
When the pepper spray still didn't lure the musician out of his vehicle, SWAT members were deployed around 4 a.m. to break his car window and fire “non-lethal” pepper balls to get him to surrender, it says TMZ.
The “Stoned” singer was then taken to a hospital to have his eyes washed out. He was eventually arrested for his outstanding warrant and the new charge of resisting arrest. His trial is scheduled for August 20.
In 2017, Scantlin was arrested for allegedly trying to bring a BB gun onto a plane at LAX Airport while boarding a flight to Texas.
Scantlin has had several other run-ins with the law over the years. The musician was arrested in 2012 for arguing with a flight attendant. That time, he was charged with public drunkenness. Three years later he was convicted of his second DUI within a month. During that arrest he was also charged with possession of marijuana. In 2016, he was charged with felony vandalism after he was arrested at a foreclosed home.
