Questlove Blasts Kendrick Lamar & Drake Feud While Declaring 'Hip-Hop Truly Is Dead'

While Kendrick Lamar and Drake's heavyweight battle has been a pop culture spectacle in recent weeks, Questlove isn't thrilled with their messy feud and “muddy” rants.

The Roots drummer mocked Drake and K. Dot's war in a fiery Instagram post on Tuesday night (May 8), where Quest surprised fans with their visceral reactions to the haymakers they traded in the scathing diss tracks.

“No one won the war. It wasn't about skill. This was a wrestling match at the level of mudslinging and takedowns by any means necessary—women and children (and actual events) be damned,” he wrote before declaring hip-hop dead. “The same public out for blood will soon be posting as if they weren't part of the problem. Hip hop is really dead.”

Questlove's post made references to both Drake and Kendrick bringing family and children to the beef in a very personal way to attack each other. K. Dot accused Drizzy of hiding an 11-year-old daughter on “Meet the Grahams,” while 6 God claimed Lamar's manager Dave Free fathered one of the Compton rapper's children on “Family Matters.”

“Here we are now… Entertain us,” Questlove captioned the post, referencing Nirvana's “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

Quest turned off his comments on Instagram, but that didn't stop his hot opinion from sparking backlash on X as one user reminded Quest that he was playing drums for by Jay-Z Disconnected live album in 2001 that included “Takeover,” Hov's diss track against Nas. “Wasn't Questlove the drummer at 'Unplugged' live where Hov performed 'Takeover?'” the user wrote. “A fight where women and children were mentioned? Shut up dude.”
