Quiet on set: The Dark Side of Kids TVa four-part documentary series exposing the “toxic and dangerous culture” and alleged abuse on the sets of some of Nickelodeon's hit series, is goes viral on TikTok. The ID channel will rebroadcast the entire documentary starting on Friday (March 22), but if you don't feel like waiting, the documentaries continue on Max.
According to a Press release from ID, the docu-series offers “unprecedented access to key cast members, writers and crew spanning Schneider's popular Nickelodeon series,” including All these cast members Giovanni Samuels, Kyle Sullivan, Brian Hearn, Katrina Johnson and director Virgil Fabian, The Amanda Show writers Jenny Kilgen and Christy Stratton, Alexa Nikolas by Zoey 101 in addition to the cast and crew from iCarly, Sam & Cat, Victorious and other Nickelodeon icons like former host Marc Summers Double Dare.
The documentaries, which premiered on Investigation Discovery on March 17 and 18, explore various shows created by Dan Schneider, who has since denied many of the allegations against him in the documentary, including sexualizing children and fostering a toxic work environment.
“Everything that happened on the shows that Dan ran was carefully reviewed by the dozens of adults involved and approved by the network,” a Schneider spokesperson said in a statement to Variety. “If there was a real problem with the scenes that some people, now years later, are 'sexualising', they would be removed, but they are not, they are constantly shown around the world today, enjoyed by children and parents alike,”
Drake Bell, from the Nickelodeon series Drake & Josh, appears in the third episode of the documentary. In the documentary, Bell accused former Nickelodeon acting and dialogue coach Brian Peck of sexual abuse.
In August 2003, Peck was arrested on charges of sexual abuse, including indecency with a child. The victim was one of the children Peck mentored and abused at his home for more than six months, according to the L.A.P.D. Peck served 16 months for child molestation and is now a registered sex offender.
Clips from the documentary, including Bell's story, have received millions of views on TikTok.
“My name is Drake Bell and I came here to tell my story. I've never told my story publicly,” Bell states in the documentary.
It's quiet on set directed by Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz. The series is produced by Maxine Productions and Sony Pictures Television.
