Rapper Rich Homie Quan has died, aged 34.
The rapper, whose real name is Dequantes Devontay Lamar, died on 5 September in his Atlanta home, according to TMZ.
His death was confirmed by the Fulton County medical examiner, and an autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.
He was found at home on the couch, by girlfriend Amber Williams, who found him not breathing and without a heartbeat, according to the 911 call obtained by TMZ.
His family told TMZ they were “shattered and heartbroken” by his sudden death.
Just a few hours before he died, Rich posted an update on his Facebook page, announcing he’d be appearing at the Wild N’ Out Live Tour, which is organised by Nick Cannon, on 19 September.
Rich’s music became known in the mainstream in 2013 with his single, Type of Way, but it was his 2015 hit, Flex, that really propelled his career. He was described by the New York Times as being part of the city’s rising generation of rappers, and he went on to collaborate with Tyga, YG, Jeezy and Young Thug.
He leaves behind four sons, two of whom he shared with girlfriend Amber, and two from a previous relationship.
