During an appearance at Bootleg Kev podcast, Rapsody was asked about her feelings on J. Cole apologizing to fans and Kendrick Lamar after dropping his “7 Minute Drill” diss track from his recent mixtape. It may be deleted later. On the track, Cole took shots at Lamar's discography, mostly To Pimp a Butterflycalling the Compton rapper's third solo effort boring, rapping, “Your second one looked to sleep but they got it.”
Rapsody — who, like Cole, is from North Carolina and appeared at Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly dance floor “Complexion (A Zulu Love)” — was reluctant to speak her mind, but finally had this to say when asked about the apology.
“I try not to talk about these things,” he began. “I keep my thoughts to myself. But, yes, he is a man, he made his decision. But am I only speaking for myself, if I am in this position? I love the spirit of what it is or its sport. And if it's me, I'm going,” “Homie or not, let's go.” You know, he approached it the way he did.”
On to his subject In the Pimp one Butterfly suddenly she was considered mediocre, she wasn't buying that narrative.
“I thought about it when Cole apologized,” she said. “And when he did, I would never approach his discography. But in the art of war… war is war. But it's funny to see the sheep scenery. And it's like, because we're in this battle and it says it's not good, everybody's like, “Yeah, we don't think it's that good?” Get the f— out of here.'
