A rare auction of Avicii's personal belongings is giving fans a unique opportunity to own a piece from an artist who defined a generation.
The auction includes 267 items belonging to the legendary DJ and electronic dance music producer, who tragically committed suicide at the age of 28 in 2018. The items include sneakers, clothing, musical instruments and other memorabilia from his personal collection that has been stored in Stockholm for the past six years.
Every item coming to auction has been donated by the late “Levels” producer and all proceeds will benefit the Tim Bergling Foundation, a philanthropic organization launched in his name to advocate for the recognition of suicide as a global health crisis.
“Given Tim's lack of attachment to material things, his family decided that a charity auction was the most natural solution, with the proceeds going to the Tim Bergling Foundation,” according to Stockholms Auktionsverk. “This auction will support the Foundation's work in youth mental health and other causes close to Tim's heart, such as endangered animals, nature and climate. In this way, Tim's belongings can contribute to the positive change he always tried to inspire.”
The live auction will take place at Nybrogatan 32 in Stockholm and online on Tuesday, October 1 at 9 a.m. ET (6 a.m. PT). The auction will be published in full on September 6.
“We are incredibly proud to present this auction,” said Cecilia Gave, CEO of Stockholms Auktionsverk. “Tim Bergling touched countless people around the world and continues to do so both through his music and the foundation the family has set up in his name. It is a real honour to support the Tim Bergling Foundation to help more young people. We have 350 years of experience passing on the objects of some of the most prominent cultural figures in history and we consider it a privilege.”
