Organizers of the traveling Breakaway Music Festival have announced that all of their events in 2025 will accept cryptocurrency for ticket purchases, bottle service, and more.
For cryptocurrency enthusiasts, it means one more way to secure their spot at what has become North America's most ambitious traveling EDM festival. The move not only modernizes Breakaway's ticketing process, but also reflects the festival's spirit of progress and inclusivity to foster a new kind of freedom on and off the dance floor.
“We are excited to expand our offering and embrace the future of payments by accepting cryptocurrency across all dates of our 2025 festival,” Breakaway co-founder and CEO Adam Lynn said in a press release. “As the music industry continues to evolve, we are committed to adapting to the needs of our fans and staying ahead of the curve.”
“By accepting cryptocurrencies, we provide our fans with more flexibility and convenience, while supporting the growth of the cryptocurrency community in the markets we will serve next year and beyond.”
The timing is not a coincidence. Dissident CRO William Van Orsdel says the change is the result of a major trend of customers and suppliers requesting the use of cryptocurrencies at music festivals.
“We believe in the underlying technology and are excited to be industry pioneers of what we believe will ultimately become standard practice across the entertainment landscape,” added Van Orsdel.
It's also worth noting that Breakaway's innovative move comes amid a feverishly bullish US crypto market. The price of Bitcoin over the weekend rose above $80,000 for the first time, and now sits above $89,000 at the time of writing. Major altcoins like Ethereum, Solana, Ripple, and Sui have followed suit with unprecedented gains.
The 2025 Breakaway season is scheduled to begin April 4-5 in Dallas. The festival will then head to Phoenix, Tampa, Atlanta, Columbus, Minneapolis, Grand Rapids, Worcester, Philadelphia, Charlotte and Huntsville before concluding in the Bay Area on October 17-18.
