Ray J has requested joint custody of his kids after Princess Love filed for divorce.
In court documents obtained by People, the singer-songwriter has requested joint legal and physical custody of daughter Melody, five, and son Epik, more than a month after Princess filed for divorce.
The 43-year-old is also asking for a division of his and Princess’ assets, including “miscellaneous jewellery and other personal effects”.
Ray, real name William Ray Norwood Jr, has also asked that he and the internet personality pay their own legal fees and for spousal support for Princess to be determined at a later date.
Princess, 39, filed for divorce from Ray on 26 February after nearly eight years of marriage.
The filing marks the fourth time the couple have gone through divorce proceedings. Princess filed for divorce in May 2020, but withdrew her petition in July that year after they reconciled. Ray then filed papers to end their marriage in September that year, before agreeing to call off the divorce in March. He filed for divorce again in October 2021, but later filed for the divorce to be dismissed.
In an Instagram post shared on 26 February, Princess explained that the decision to end their marriage was “difficult”, but added that it was in their “best interests” to separate.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our decision to divorce,” she wrote. “After much reflection, discussion, and counseling, we have come to the difficult realization that our paths have diverged and it is in the best interest of both of us to part ways.”
The actress continued, “We want to reassure you that this decision was made thoughtfully and with mutual respect and consideration for each other’s well-being.”
The former couple tied the knot in August 2016, after four years of dating.
