The famous Mexican Pop group RBD have said they will have to put all projects “on hold”, including a possible continuation of their successful 2023 reunion tour, amid an ongoing financial dispute with their former manager.
On Wednesday May 22, RBD and their lawyers issued a statement disputing recent claims by T6H Entertainment and its CEO Guillermo Rosas that there was no financial mismanagement related to last year's 'Soy Rebelde' tour. RBD's lawyers countered that “a forensic accounting investigation … revealed significant irregularities,” arguing that nearly $1 million remained unaccounted for.
According to RBD's lawyers, T6H and Citrin Cooperman – a professional services firm that acted as business manager for the tour and later conducted the financial audit – were “solely responsible for the tour's payments”. Neither RBD as a whole nor any of the individual members “had access to manage the money or make payments”.
“It has always been our goal to resolve these disputes professionally,” the band's statement continued. “We remain committed to working with all parties involved to achieve a fair and transparent resolution. Our integrity and the trust of our fans is paramount and we will not rest until these issues are fully resolved.”
The T6H did not return immediately Rolling rockhis request for comment.
RBD was born from the popular Mexican telenovela Rebelde, which followed a group of teenagers who formed a band at a fictional private school. Fifteen years after the group went on hiatus, they announced their return with a groundbreaking tour that took place throughout the fall and winter of 2023.
While the tour was a great success, after it ended, RBD and Rosas/T6H they parted ways. Then, earlier this month, Andrés Tovar, husband of RBD's Maite Perroni, revealed on a Mexican TV program that there was an ongoing audit into alleged financial mismanagement.
Shortly after, T6H responded with a statement denying the allegations stating (via People in Spain), “We expressly clarify that under no circumstances and at no time will neither T6H Entertainment, nor Guillermo Rosas, nor any employee of the company divert or illegally use any kind of money from the Soy Rebelde tour. He was also not involved in any kind of embezzlement of any kind as some media outlets have suggested.”
