Queens native and World Fair member Remy Banks just dropped his latest installment champ hoody music series. His first album in three years, Banks took a break from music in 2021 after releasing the ghost of paradise. “This album was the introduction [of] where I got my sound,” he says Advertising sign. “I also started working on ventures outside of music and started Banks' Buds Co. into the legal world of cannabis with something dope that happened in April with host K-Dog. So smokers stay tuned.”
After his brief pause, Remy felt inspired. “I started collecting records and [it] I got to a point where I felt like I had two albums. One half of the songs had the champ hoody they feel and the other half had kick in the door energy.” Champ hoody music ep. 3 is a smooth nine-piste course perfect for the upcoming spring weather. Featuring Domo Genesis, Goya Gumbani, Lojii, GVVAAN, 3wayslim and Fly Anakin with production from argov, soul.exe, Graymatter, ewonee, Laron and Rockwilder (yes, that Rockwilder). My favorite track so far is 'place i rep.', my favorite verse from Remy is probably at the end of 'cloth talk.' and my favorite element is a toss-up between the hugely underrated Domo Genesis and Fly Anakin.
We caught up with Banks after dropping his first single and video for the project, “Sunrays,” and had him break down each song for us.

Remy Banks: “That was one of the first tracks I recorded in 2022 or 2023 that made me feel like I was ready to start putting an album together. It set the tone for where I wanted to take my next work, so it made sense to make this the first piece.”

Deja Vu.

Remy Banks: “When I heard that beat, I stopped what I was doing and started writing straight away. [There] it was something about it that spoke to me, I had to let people know I don't play. Then my brother Rennie sent me this vocal note with some words he wanted me to hear and I knew it was going to be used for the hook… it fit the mood perfectly. It felt like Mickey talking to Rocky in the gym.”

Remy Banks: “This joint was just like a win. Like a victory I won by actually doing this project. As soon as I wrote the verse and the hook, I knew I needed my brother Domo Genesis on it. This will definitely be a gem for the Doms & Rem fans out there.”

cloth talk. (feat. Goya Gumbani & Lojii)
Centre. by ewoneeRemy Banks: “Shout Goya and Lozzi to me!” We were in the space pit [studio] one night going through beats for about an hour or two, this joint raised our antennas and we started writing about something flies. I feel like three of our styles are so unique from one another, but we are cut from the same cloth. The rest is self-explanatory.”

time & energy. (feat. GVVAAN)
Centre. by Laron
Remy Banks: “Oh man. This one is special. My friend Laron sent this beat and as soon as I heard it, I knew where I was going with it. The sound reminded me of a love story in late 90s New York, so I thought of my wife and started drawing this film. As soon as my brother GVVAAN recorded the hook, I knew this was going to be one of them.”

Remy Banks: “This little layover is like driving Queens bound for the Long Island Expressway from the city in the wee hours after a night out.”

part I represent.

Remy Banks: “Every time I hear this song, I wonder. I can't believe I cooked something with the legendary Rockwilder. I love my cousin Rasheed for overseeing this meeting of the minds. This is for Queens!”

points. (feat. 3wayslim & Fly Anakin)
Centre. by Graymatter
Remy Banks: “I went to Los Angeles for a week to work on new tunes. I was stuck at home in New York, but I needed some new scenery. I was very close to the studio every day with Graymatter and this audience was one of the few that we knocked out. Slim and Anakin went crazy, so I had to finish it right and bring it home.”

Remy Banks: “The project was nearing completion and I needed something to close. I got Graymatter and he said, “I'm not going to send you anything, just come to LA and go to the studio.” I did just that and ended up walking away with a few knuckles from Grey. That had that outside feel, so I wrote my way out. It's over.”
