The Lunar New Year — encompassing Chinese New Year, Seollal in Korea, Tet in Vietnam and more — starts on Feb. 10, bringing two weeks of festivities celebrating the year of the dragon.
For those in the New York City area, the party options include Lunar Eclipse, a three-week run of dance/electronic shows at The Brooklyn Hangar being thrown in honor of the holiday.
Headliners include Alesso Feb. 2-3, Tiësto Feb. 8-9, REZZ Feb. 10, ISOxo and Knock2 Feb. 15, RL Grime Feb. 16 and Zedd Feb. 17-18. Support acts include Mersiv and Daily Bread for REZZ, Dubvision for Alesso, Luis Torres for Tiësto and Rossy and Deadcrow for RL Grime.
The shows are being produced by Ignite Group, Apollo ID and DEG Presents, and tickets are on sale now. (The night featuring San Diego-based bass producers ISOxo and Knock2 is currently sold out, as is the Feb. 17 show from Zedd.)
“After years of discussing we finally decided to make Lunar Eclipse a reality,” Eddie Dean, founder of DEG presents, tells Billboard. “The Asian community has always supported DEG, and now we are working together. If you go to any dance music show in NYC, you will always see a strong showing from the Asian community, so it makes so much sense to have an Asian-focused festival here in New York City. I’m really excited to help my friends at Ignite and Apollo by producing this impactful event. Lunar Eclipse has such great potential featuring such massive names in our first year.”
