Rich the Kid is betting big with his latest release. The Queens-born rapper has released his long-awaited new album Life is a gamblehis first solo full-length since 2020 The boss.
Released on July 19, 2024, Life is a gamble arrives as Rich rides the wave of his recent success with “Carnival,” his collaboration with Ye, Ty Dolla $ign and Playboi Carti that topped the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year. This hit gave Rich the Kid his first No. 1 and marked a major comeback after splitting with RCA Records.
The 18-track album is executive produced by Ye and Ty Dolla $ign, bringing their Midas to Rich's signature sound.
In a recent interview with Advertising sign, Rich explained the album title: “I feel like everything in life is a gamble. Walk out the front door, you might get hit by a bus. Everything is a gamble. I've had wins and losses in my career and I felt it was a perfect title.”
Life is a gamble features an impressive roster with guest features including Ye, Ty Dolla $ign, Peso Pluma, Offset, Rob49, French Montana, Chief Keef, BIA, Quavo and a posthumous appearance from Takeoff. The album includes the previously released singles “Carnival”, “Gimme a Second / Band Man” and “Gimme a Second 2”.
Standout tracks include “Gimme a Second,” featuring Peso Pluma, “Not In the Mood” featuring Offset, and “Plain Jane,” featuring Kanye West.
Rich the Kid enjoyed notable success on the Billboard charts over the years before landing his first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Carnival.”
His breakthrough came with the 2017 single “New Freezer,” featuring Kendrick Lamar, which peaked at No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2018, his debut studio album The world is yours peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, led by the hit single “Plug Walk,” which peaked at No. 13 on the Hot 100.
His subsequent albums also performed well, with The world is yours 2 debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in 2019.
