Following universal recognition for the award-winning musical based on his songs, Standing on the edge of the skywhich premiered earlier this month for a six-month run in London's West End, BMG today releases Richard Hawley's new single 'Two For His Heels'.
'Two For His Heels' is a sparse, atmospheric, cinematic song about a deal gone wrong. Its low bluesy rumble is reminiscent of Link Wray and Duane Eddy. It is the opening song of Hawley's next album, In this city they call you lovewhich will be released on May 31.

In this city they call you love features 12 exceptional songs, many of which can be described as 'vintage Hawley' and are among some of the best ballads he has ever written and recorded. Beautiful melodies and arrangements are accompanied by Hawley's soulful, sonorous voice, which sounds better than ever, on an album that further confirms his place as one of the best songwriters of his generation in a hugely successful recording career that approaches the 25 years.
The album's title is taken from the song 'People', which could well be the best song Hawley has ever written about his beloved Sheffield, the city's proud industrial past and the enduring determination of its citizens.
“I made three albums where I had the title before I even started recording, where I had an agenda. One was the Truelove spout. Another one was Standing At The Sky's Edge when I wanted to turn everything up and make the music much more aggressive, and then this one. I wanted it to be multicolored in some way…focusing on the vocals and what the voices can do together…I deliberately only played a handful of guitar solos to keep focused on the vocals, the song and the space…” –Richard Hawley.
