They say diamonds are a girl's best friend, and Rihanna continues to collect crown jewels. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has awarded RiRi four more diamond plaques, bringing her total to seven diamond certifications.
Per the RIAA websiteRih and Jay-Z's “Umbrella,” the Drake-assisted “Work,” Instead“Needed Me” and 2012's “Stay” are all certified diamond as of May 31. The announcement follows 2012's “Diamonds” also matching diamonds in April.
Roc Nation congratulated Rihanna who now holds the record for the most diamond certified singles by any female artist in music history with seven plaques to her name. “There's no going back,” Rihanna wrote on X while reposting the graphic of her latest accolades while seemingly shrugging off her shoulders.
The Navy flooded Rihanna's responses with congratulatory messages, but were quick to remind her that she hasn't delivered R9 and it's been eight years since her last full-length album, Instead.
“Congratulations Rich” one fan wrote. “I know you don't need to put out music again, but give us a solid ONCE MORE. just this album please.”
Jay-Z stepped up Good girl turned bad2007's “Umbrella” and the hit charted to give Rih her second No. 1 on the Hot 100. “Work” featuring Drake arrived in January 2016 and also peaked at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100.
However, Unforgivable“Stay” reached No. 3 on the Hot 100 while the Mustard-produced “Needed Me” reached No. 7.
In addition to the four new diamond certifications and last month's “Diamonds” also joining the exclusive club, Rihanna's 2010 “Love the Way You Lie” featuring Eminem (certified May 9, 2013) and her collaboration “We Found Love” from 2011 with Calvin Harris. (certified April 27, 2023) completes her seven-carat diamond collection.
