Just when we thought Hov was ready to re-introduce himself to the rap game, it looks like we're talking about a new Jay-Z The 2024 album was much ado about nothing.
Over the weekend, social media was abuzz with rumors of a new Jay-Z album after video director Hidji took to his IG stories and shared a photo featuring a clapperboard that had the production saying “JAY Z – 2024 ALBUM”. Naturally, everyone assumed this was the case and Hov would be back with some new work in the new year.
Unfortunately, it looks like it's not meant to be as the official Roc Nation X account denied the rumors by simply replying, “This is news to us” in the post circulating on social media.
Well, it was exciting for a few minutes. It's been six years since Jay-Z released his last album, 4:44, and even though the project went platinum just a week after its release, Jay hasn't dropped a new full-length since.
In an effort to make up for his absence from the rap game, Jay dropped an EP-length verse on DJ Khaled's “God Did,” but his days are already calling for a new album.
Hopefully everyone at Roc Nation is playing dumb and Jay does indeed have a project on the way in 2024, but it looks like this might be something they're playing close to the chest for now as they deny any knowledge of a brand new link from Hova the Gawd.
What do you think? Is Jay-Z releasing a new album this year and keeping it a secret? Let us know in the comments section below.
